The Camping and Caravanning Club Junior Youth Section Hi there, we are Kelly and Richard, the junior youth leaders for Yorkshire D.A. The junior youth section (CCJ) is for children aged 8 to 11 years old. At some meets the juniors have their own camping area that, when they feel ready, they are able to camp in their own tents alongside their friends under our supervision. We like to kick start our fun weekends with our 'Campfire Chatter' on a Friday evening. Here as well as enjoying hot chocolate, toasting marshmallows, playing games and sing alongs you will also get to meet many new friends for the weekend. Across the year we offer numerous games and activities, child led, based on your interests but will include crafts, team building, sports and teaching you life long skills to prepare you for moving up into the youth section on your 12th birthday. Some examples of 2019's activities included building bird boxes, pond dipping, movies and mocktails and treasure hunting. Everything we do is at your pace, no pressure, you can choose where you'd join in i.e. you can still join in daytime activities if you are not ready to camp. The CCJ are also offered the opportunity to learn skills and sit the CCJ test. We will offer training sessions throughout the year in subjects including first aid, map reading, countryside code, tent pitching etc. This is all learnt through fun games and activities. To join the CCJ we have a couple of forms for parents to fill in and return to us, that's it, then the fun can begin! Please keep an eye out for our newsletter to see what is coming up!
